Chana Majake
Position: Chief Executive Officer

Chana Majake worked
for the European Union Foundation for Human Rights in South
Africa for five years as Gender Consultant funding human rights
organisation to further promote the culture of human rights
in South Africa. She has had extensive lecturing experience
as visiting lecture at the University of Natal, teaching Community
Development Process and Approaches to Social Work students.
She also lectured at the University of the North.Ms Majake is
a Founder member of a number of schools for children with disabilities.
She also has had extensive involvement in the Human Rights Programmes,
through organising series of workshops and conferences nationally
and internationally on issues relating to Women and Child Protection.
She was Head of the SA delegation that visited Malaysia and
Ireland to bid for 13th International Congress on Prevention
of Child Abuse and Neglect that was held in the year 2000 at
the Durban International Convention Centre.
Chana served on different Boards in pursuance
of Social Development issues. She worked tirelessly on the ground
on a number of development projects with grassroots women. She
was also part of the National Planning Committee for the 4th
United Nations World Conference on Women. She has also published
a number of articles in various journals and was instrumental
to the process of putting together the SA Gender Resource and
Training Manual.
Qualifications: MA (Social Science), University
of Natal; Diploma in Development Issues, Stanford University,
California, United States of America.
